On March 24-25, theComparative Education Society of Hong Kong Spring Annual Conference 2017 washeld at The Education University of Hong Kong. Associate professor WU Wei,assistant professor WEN Jing, postgraduate CUI Ya’nan, LIU Lulu, XU Wenjiesubmitted the paper and made a report.
The Conference wasorganized around four themes: a. equity and basic schooling in Asia; b. highereducation in Asia: the local and the global; c. education and social change;and d. comparative education research methods. The conferenceattracted scholars from around the world, such as Australia, Japan, thePhilippines, Indonesia, India, Kazakhstan and mainland China and Hong Kong area,Macao area, Taiwan area and other regions. Prof. Jae Park, from EducationUniversity of Hong Kong, Prof. Liz Jackson, from Hong Kong University, Prof. AkiyoshiYonezawa, from Northeastern University in Japan and Prof. Brian D. Denma.from Universityof New England, delivered a speech.
At this conference,associate professor WU Wei gave an English presentation entitled“A Study on Research UniversityTeachers’ Belief and Its Relation with Teachers’ Personal Background: Based onthe Survey of one Research University”. This research based on one researchuniversity, to analyze the relationship between the characteristic of teachers’belief and the personal background. Assistant professor WEN Jing made a reportentitled “Model Revisions and Trends Monitoring of College Students'Satisfaction”. The research based on the student participation theory, designedlearning satisfaction scale according to the IEO model, and collected datathrough NCSS. On the basis of this, it is reasonable to deduce the trend ofuniversity teaching research, monitoring mechanism and learning experience fromthe perspective of theory, research and practice. The empirical study of twoteachers got the attention and affirmation of the participants.
Under the guidance of the teacher WU Wei,postgraduate CUI Ya’nan, made an English report entitled “The Change of theCollege Students’ Evaluation of Teaching in Internet Plus Era”, she analyzedthe problems existing in the online evaluation system, and put forward themeasures to improve the effectiveness and credibility of the students' evaluationof teaching. Postgraduate LIU Lulu made an English report entitled “A NewApproach to University External Governance under the Background of SocialChange in China”, she pointed out the existing problems of the externalgovernance model of university and put forward a new idea to optimize theexternal governance of the university. Postgraduate XU Wenjie made an Englishreport entitled “Moral Educational Function of Higher Education under theBackground of ‘New Urbanization’”, she highlighted that it’s imperative forhigher education to play its moral educational function under the background of‘New Urbanization’ and explored the feasible paths of higher education to playits moral educational function.
The conference providedan opportunity for our teachers and students to broaden their horizons, to learnthe new developments in the comparative education research field, and to have amore profound understanding and thinking.
