On September 24, 2017, Professor WANG Hongcai gavethe lecture entitledUniversity 's Tradition, Modernity and Postmodernity—Exploration of Innovative Teaching Theoryat the University. This is the first lecture of this semester.The lecturewas presided over by Prof. SHI Qiuheng, Deputy Director of the Institute.

On the lecture,Professor WANG Hongcai divided the contents into three parts. Firstly, hepointed out that in the higher education popularity stage, we should insist on “students-centermode”. Teaching should base on students’ needs. Secondly, he argued that higher education has already been in postmodern era from the perspective of diversity and poly-centrism of running objective of universities. Finally, Prof. WANG explained the difference and connection between traditional universities,modern universities and postmodern universities with the theory of knowledge production model, post-industrial social theory, postmodernism theory anduniversity function theory.

In the end,Professor PAN Maoyuan summed up and rethought the lecture, and put forward that postmodernism not only means criticism, but also construction andother wonderful comments.
